Branch density refers to the number of bank branches per square mile. The median branch density was calculated at the national level (median = 0.016).
Population density refers to the number of people per square mile. The median population density was calculated at the national level (median = 46.3).
A county is classified as "many people, many banks" when the following is true:
Branch density is greater than the median branch density.
Population density is greater than the median population density.
A county is classified as "many people, few banks" when the following is true:
Branch density is less than or equal to the median branch density.
Population density is greater than the median population density.
